What is steampunk and how is its clothing?

I have a general idea about it, but the articles I've read haven't given me a full description of it.

Also, what type of clothing would associate with it?

Steampunk's a style in its own right. It's usually associated with brown-tinged colours, and old fashioned styles. Old waistcoats and funky hats. It's loosely based on th Victorian era with more modern elements thrown in there.
